BIOGRAPHY
The painter David Twose works as a true tightrope walker, seeking the perfect harmony between figuration and abstraction.
He creates a world away from space and time, a universe with powerful colours and forms that draws its inspiration from the human body, landscapes, urban landscapes...
David Twose reveals the abstraction hiding within reality, with the aim of expressing a world that transcends us, touching the essence of all that surrounds and inhabits us.
His oil paintings put our imagination to work, bringing us back to our need for contemplation.
Born on 18.03.1977, Twose lives and works in Paris.
He has been trained by Jérôme Quèbre (Grande Chaumière – Paris), and by the abstract colourist painter Jacques Vigot.
He regularly exhibits in Paris (Salon d'Automne, Grand Palais - Salon des Artistes Français…), as well as internationally (Chicago, National Art Center in Tokyo, St. Petersburg, Hermitage-Vyborg Center…).
In 2020, he collaborated with the Citroën brand.
He has been awarded by the Société Académique Arts-Sciences-Lettres (bronze medal), and by the Salon d’Automne in 2021.
STATEMENT

Philosophy (particularly Plato) lies at the core of my art, underpinning my need for self-expression in order to connect with something greater: freedom, beauty, nature, and the universe.
When I paint a landscape, I search for the abstract images that exist in reality: the shapes of a tree, a building, a shadow, etc.
My goal is to expose and amplify these abstractions — what I call abstractivation. I am searching for the elusive line between figural and abstract work in the hope of reaching new spiritual dimensions.
Abstractivation is the pillar of my art, it is the way that I work and the way that I see.
